Writer Profile for Jodi Bennett
Jodi BennettWorland, Wyoming
I was raised up in the Southern California sun, spending virtually every day as a competitive swimmer from age 4 until I was 22. After graduation from Marina High School, I spent two years at Goldenwest Jr. College and then went on to graduate with a Bachelor in English from Humboldt State University. Post graduation, I got my ACE Personal Trainers License, got married and moved to Worland, Wyoming where we owned and operated a gym for the last 25+ years. I have an amazing son Dane, who is currently finishing up his freshman year at the University of Kentucky. He is pursuing dual degrees in music performance on oboe and Biochemistry. Gunna mom brag just a little here…..he made the UK Orchestra as a freshman and currently sits as 1st chair assistant. He will be living his dream and playing at Carnegie Hall this coming May 29th!
I come from a legacy of Woodturners out of Germany, but only got to see my Grandfathers work. His joy in sharing his passion for turning was infectious! When my son started high school I got my first lathe and joined the Worland Wyoming Woodturners. Sam Angelo has been an amazing instructor! I started burning as a fluke, when a club project required a company brand be put on pens we made from whisky barrel wood. I was instantly hooked (….could have been the fumes) and found I had an unknown talent.
My life story took an unexpected turn less than a year ago. At the same time as my son was graduating from high school and leaving for college, my husband wanted a divorce. I’m slowly learning to navigate this new solo chapter of my life. I have a great job at Security State Bank and get to pour my energy into all my passions which include turning, pyrography, gardening, snowshoeing, hiking and recently added, shooting! I’m excited to go back to my writing roots and contribute to this publication!
