Bob Baucom is a native of North Carolina. He first connected with woodturning while turning a bowl in his Goldsboro Junior High shop class. It became a dream from that point to one day have a lathe and woodturn. After doing his graduate work at UNC-Chapel Hill he started a business and found other woodturning friends. He lives in Chapel Hill, NC with his wife Becky and his younger daughter.
Bob has been a member of the Woodturners Guild of North Carolina and is a founding member of the Chapel Hill Woodturners Club of AAW. Bob has demonstrated at the North Carolina Woodturner’s Symposium, John C. Campbell Folk School and various woodturning clubs in the eastern US. He teaches an ornaments class at John C. Campbell Folk School. Bob also teaches all forms of woodturning in his home studio and at workshops from Ohio to Florida. He had an article published in the AAW Journal September 2013 on turning his Hot Air Balloon ornaments. Most of his ornaments are of his own design and imagination. His work can be seen in local galleries and can be found in private collections throughout the United States and parts of Europe.
