I have been turning for 60 years.  My father started me with lathe work because he thought an 8 year old was too young to use the table saw and jointer.  Good choice! and a practice I've followed with my children and grandchildren.  I've had the good fortune of attending many formal woodturning courses over these years that have helped me develop then refine my techniques.

I retired from my practice of family medicine and as a college professor about 15 years ago.  Subsequently, I have had much more time for turning.  I was the founding president of Southeastern Ohio Woodturners and continue as an active member.  Many of the articles I write come about as a method for answering questions that come from club members.
