I have been turning for 60 years.  My father started me with lathe work because he thought an 8 year old was too young to use the table saw and jointer.  Good choice! and a practice I've followed with my children and grandchildren.  I've had the good fortune of attending many formal woodturning courses over these years that have helped me develop then refine my techniques.
